David Saylor receipt book, 1784-1787.

Volume contains receipts of David Saylor. Many receipts are dated, are signed by the individuals or companies receiving the monies, and give the amounts paid by Saylor. Accounts include payments for merchandise (often in barrels) such as tea, rum, bread, indigo, pork, rice, salt, sugar, 6,000 bricks, and lumber. Other payments are for renting a lot or store on Elliott Street (Charleston, S.C.), for legal advice from Edward Rutledge, and for contributions to St. John's Lutheran Church (Charleston, S.C.).
